What is the Patient Participation Group or PPG?
Seaford Medical Practice PPG is a group of patients who work with the GP practice to improve the experience of all people registered at the practice.
We meet with GP practice members 3 or 4 times a year to share input from patients, get updates from the practice and to discuss issues and concerns.
We contribute actively in many ways including: patient surveys, website improvement, communication, testing of new systems.
We aim to be as representative as possible and to provide links between local groups and the practice, to ensure the practice is aware of the needs of a diverse range of patients.
Every patient at Seaford Medical Practice can be a member of the Patient Participation Group.
Even if you cannot attend meetings you can channel your concerns and questions via the PPG Chair.
We are:
- Co-operative – working with the practice to improve services
- Two -way – a means for the practice to keep patients informed and to hear what is and what is not working
- Responsive – letting the practice know what patients are thinking, voicing your concerns and suggesting solutions
- Challenging – prepared to make constructive criticism when things do not work in the practice
We are not:
- A GP fan club
- A place to air your personal complaints.
- A governing body – we have no executive powers; our relationship with the practice is informal but effective
Why should I join?
Your experiences matter and you can bring different ideas to the surgery to help us treat patients better or to improve what we do in some way.
You will also gain a better understanding of the NHS, and gather feedback from other patients.
Will my views be heard?
Your views are important and will be listened to. It may not be possible to act on every suggestion, but all feedback is very valuable.
Working in a spirit of mutual respect, openness and trust, all patients’ views will be discussed and, where appropriate, we will work together on solutions.
